MoMA presents a rare U.S. performance by Martial Solal, one of the world's legendary jazz pianist-composers, who is perhaps best known for his nearly forty film scores, including Jean-Luc Godard's Breathless (1959).
The performance also features French bassist François Moutin.
Solal, who was born in Algeria in 1927 and settled in Paris in 1950, got his start performing with Django Reinhardt and the American expatriates Sidney Bechet and Don Byas in the 1950s.
