Liane Hansen is hosting NPR's Weekend Edition Sunday for the last time on May 29. She first came to NPR in 1979 as a production assistant on All Things Considered.

After working various jobs in public broadcasting, she rose to the host chair of Weekend Edition Sunday in 1989.
