U.S. Troops Building Up In Afghanistan

The buildup of American forces in Afghanistan is underway. President Obama announced he was sending 21,000 more troops there.

In the past few weeks, those troops have begun arriving and setting up forward bases. NPR Pentagon correspondent Tom Bowman is there to cover the deployments.

He speaks with Host Liane Hansen to give an update on the Marines and their mission.
